Scripture Journal Post

Can you believe it is the last day of February, heading into the third month of 2015!  Today I am sharing my week 8 post for my artful scripture journal.  This is one of my favorite scriptures and I enjoyed putting this page together.  When I saw this week's verse I knew I wanted to use some of the black and white scraps of paper that I have been hoarding and I just added stickles to outline the lines and added a splash of red to my computer generated lettering.

I also decided to share this for the February blog challenge over at Mema's Crafts for the challenge of using red and white and one other color.

Take care and have a great weekend, I will be trying to stay warm!

African American History

As February comes to an end I would be remiss if I didn't at least share one project in honor of Black History Month.  I celebrate and honor my heritage everyday!  Today's LO is one that I have been trying to scrap for sometime and finally decided I wanted to make sure it was done for this month.

Last September my daughter's Girl Scout troop attended the historic highway marker dedication ceremony honoring the first Southern African American Girl Scout Troop.  It was Troop 34 formed in 1932, they met on the Campus of Virginia Union University where the marker was dedicated.  In addition the girls got to meet Gloria R. Scott the first African American Nationa President of the Girl Scouts.  She was president from 1975-1978 and was instrumental in the redesign of  the Girl Scout Trefoil to highlight the diversity movement.  Ms Scott was also the first African American instructor to teach at a predominately white institution when in 1961 she started teaching Biology at Marion College in Indiana.

When completing the LO I used a kraft base from Recollections and papers from the K&Co Girl Scout paper pad, used my cricut to cut the word dedication, the highway sign and the uniform (shirt & vest).  The sketch inspiration for this LO is from  Tiare's Desk to Done challenge #51 and this is my eighth LO for my 2015 challenge.

Take care and be safe.

Hello

Today I am sharing a card that I put together to send as encouragement to a young person currently starting their journey of serving our country. The sketch inspiration for this card same from Mojo Monday sketch #385.   I just used misc.paper scraps from my stash, an embossing folder, some glitter tape from Recollections and a stamp that I picked up from Target sometime last year.  I like how it came together and I hope it inspires her to continue to dream big on her journey.

Installation of Officers

I'm back today to share my seventh LO for my 2015 challenge, even though I don't really care for it I'm moving on.  I can't really put my hand on why I don't like it, I think it has something to do with balance but I can't dwell on it any further, I might go back later and add some faux stitching, doodling or something else but for now it's done!  I used paper from  a Crate Paper pad that I picked up on clearance in Tuesday Morning, thickers for the word installation, washi tape and the sequin hearts all from my stash.  I cut the tree using a file from the silhouette online store.

Take care and stay warm!

Sorry for Your Loss

It is very cold here, the kids are out of school again today and DH is home sick.  I know that they are working hard to clear the streets but I'm not sure if the kids will be able to go to school tomorrow especially with the cold temps and the snow turning into ice.

Today's card is one that I made for someone that recently lost their father,   I always have a hard time creating sympathy cards but I like how this one came together.  The pattern paper was a piece from the second sheet of paper that I picked up  over the weekend.  I used it in my scripture journal and for another card so I will toss the remaining scraps!  The pattern paper and flowers are from Recollections, I used a punch for the pine branches, added gems and the card was done!

Take care and try to stay warm!

Wednesday Wanderings

It's Wednesday and welcome to another edition of Wednesday Wanderings!  Back at work today after an inclement weather day yesterday, they are calling for more snow this afternoon.  I sure hope that it doesn't happen, It's time for the kids to get back in the classroom and out of their parents refrigerator! I know because while I was home yesterday that's all I did was eat and sleep!  I did manage to work on a few projects but didn't get as much done as I wanted!

Today's project is another page from my Artful Journey Through Scripture journal which is a part of a FB group called  Hide His Word in my heART.  This page is from week 4 and we are up to week 7 so I'm playing catch up!  I have just two more and I'll be current.  The butterfly paper is some that I picked up while I was in GA over the weekend as I thought I'd have time to work on my journal but that didn't happen.  I will use the balance of the sheet for a birthday card or two.  I used my SLICE for the die cuts and added a few rhinestones and the page was done!

Take care and be safe if you are in the pathway of wintry weather.

Turkey Time

Hello Friday, this has been a busy week trying to regroup from DD's birthday celebration and prepare for this week's celebration.  We will be celebrating Uncle Willi'es 70th birthday, Uncle Willie and our daughter shares the same birthdate!  It is so cold outside which is making it very hard for me to get motivated to get ready for our weekend roadtrip

Today's LO is one that I put together  using some pictures that I took Thanksgiving Day last year.  I used paper from a WeR Memory Keepers paper pad called Grandma's Kitchen.  The picture's were actually taken in my MIL's kitchen as we were gathering around for grace before our meal..  The LO came together quickly since there was little room for embellishments once I added the pictures.  The title was cut using my SLICE machine, added some stickers from my stash, stamped the date and the verse and it was done.  This is my sixth LO for my scrapbook LO challenge for 2015.

Happy Anniversary

Hello Tuesday, although it is rainy and cold here I'm thankful that it's not snowing.  I am still tired and sleepy after  a wonderful weekend of  celebrating our daughter's 14th birthday.

Today I am sharing one of the anniversary cards that I made, using paper scraps, a Darice embossing folder and a stamp.  I can't remember which blog I was visiting when I saw the inspiration for this card but I liked the look of it and decided to make three variations of it.  Now I have all my anniversary cards for this month done!

I am sharing today's card for this week's Love Theme challenge over at the  Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog.

Happy 14th

Today is our daughter's birthday so I'm sharing one of the cards that I made for her.  When she opened it this morning she said "this is cute" so I guess it met her approval!  The pattern paper came from a Hampton Arts 6x6 paper pad, the bingo card I received in a RAK last year and I just altered it a little.  I cut the balloon with the cricut using the Best of 2006 cartridge not sure which cartridge it came from originally. Added a little bling and the card was done.

I'm sharing this card for the Freestyle challenge #185 over at Hiding in my Craft Room.

Have a great weekend as I will be busy celebrating my baby girl all weekend!

School Ready

Hello Wednesday and welcome to another day edition of Wednesday Wanderings.  We had a little excitement yesterday when I received a call from one of the teachers saying my daughter had fainted which resulted in a visit to the doctor's office and then to the emergency room. All of this while we're trying to get ready for her 14th birthday celebration, but God is good and she should be fine.

Today, I am sharing my 5th LO of the year which uses some pictures that I took of our daughter before I started scrapbooking so I'm not sure of the exact date.  I do know that it was September 2005 because it was the day she was being interviewed for the early childhood program.  The pictures aren't very good but I did want to scrap them.  The LO sketch inspiration came from Tiare's From Desk to Done challenge #50  All items used have been in my stash for sometime!

It's a Boy

Today I am sharing a card using more of  my scraps, I made this card for one of our friends that recently had a baby boy.  Although he came early we are praying that he will continue to grow and be abundantly blessed with a wonderful life.  The pattern paper has been in my stash forever, you know one of those sheets that you buy for a specific project and never know what or when you'll use the rest of the sheet.  I cut the elephant with the silhouette cameo and added it to the card with pop dots.  A piece of ribbon, a few buttons and a gem for the eye and the card was done!

Take care and have a wonderful day.
