Happy 75th Anniversary

Hello and happy Saturday evening, I have had  a busy day but still wanted to share my latest completed LO.  Today's project uses sketch inspiration from sketch #158 from Sketch N Scrap.  The LO uses only scraps of paper with the exception of the base.  I cut the title using the Phrases cricut cartrridge and unbranded dies for the heart and #75.   The  LO came together quickly since I gathered everything and put a kit together,, something I need to do more.  I am sharing this LO for challenge #366 - Use Die Cuts over at Hiding in my Craft Room.

Thank you for your visit, enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Sunday of Hope

Hello and happy Sunday, woke up with a really bad sinus headache but I must press on.  There is much to do as usual.  I am happy that the sun is shining today as it was raining yesterday but we braved it and did what we had to do.   I am happy to finally be able to share a completed LO, just need to add the journaling.  I have shared other LOs of Sunday's of Hope which is a project supported nationally by my husband's fraternity but this one is different, so many emotions.  All items used have been in my stash for quite sometime,   Thank you for your visit and I hope you too will support the call to make a donation to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.  Wishing you and yours a wonderful week.

Hello Friday

We made it, another Friday and the weekend has started or rather for me it will start around 5:30 when I leave work for the day.  I am sure I will be struggling to stay awake since I woke up at 2 AM and didn't go back to sleep until almost 5 AM and when I woke up and it was light outside I went into overdrive.  When I couldn't sleep I went downstairs to work on my last LOs for this month's challenge.

Today I am sharing another pocket style LO, I have several that I am hoping to finish soon.  I need to figure out a better way to take the pictures as the glare is horrible.   I originally scrapped the picture of the wives that attended the dinner in my Simply Beautiful post so this one include additional pictures.  The fraternity brothers with the white coats have been members for 50 years or more.

Take care and have wonderful weekend.

Pocket Scrapbooking

Hello and happy Tuesday, today I am sharing a page that I completed using the WeR Memory Keepers (Made Easy) photo sleeves.  I am not sure how I feel about it, it was a little out of my comfort zone.  I didn't use any of the journaling or pocket cards that are sold for this type of scrapbooking,  I just used scrap paper, some stickers and a few other embellishments.  I am thinking about doing this style of album for my son since I've never scraped  an album for him.

Take care and have a great day.

Wednesday Wanderings

Hello and Happy Wednesday,  I am way behind there is always so much to do!  The holiday came and went and I didn't do much of anything but sleep and a few chores.  I have challenged myself to complete at least 10 LOs this month, I need to get busy.  I am also working on my first pocket page style LO so stay tuned.  Today I am sharing another signature simple but classy  page using the group pictures taken at this year's family and friends annual picnic for the Fredericksburg Kappas.  How you like the play on words, my daughter told me that I didn't need to add anything else that it looked fine so I left it.  The pattern paper has been in my stash forever and the cork lettering used for the title is some that I picked up in Tuesday Morning recently and a few gems from Recollections and it was done.  I did straighten the gems in the top right corner before I stuck it in the book!

Take care and have a Wonderful Wednesday!

Good Times

We are expecting nice temperatures today even though it is cool outside right now.  It's Thursday which is min-Friday according to one of the anchors on one of the morning news shows.  I'm having mixed feelings as it seems I haven't been able to get as much work done as I had planned since my manager has been out all week on vacation.  Oh well such is life!

Today's LO uses a picture taken of some of the Kappa wives when they went out for lunch after attending church celebrating the Kappa's Founder's Day in January.   I had a schedule conflict so I did not attend.  I have mixed feeling about the LO but I needed to move on; used just one sheet of paper in addition to the card stock base along with a few Prima embellishments and flowers.  The title is a file from the Silhouette online store.

Take care and have a great day.

Installation of Officers

I'm back today to share my seventh LO for my 2015 challenge, even though I don't really care for it I'm moving on.  I can't really put my hand on why I don't like it, I think it has something to do with balance but I can't dwell on it any further, I might go back later and add some faux stitching, doodling or something else but for now it's done!  I used paper from  a Crate Paper pad that I picked up on clearance in Tuesday Morning, thickers for the word installation, washi tape and the sequin hearts all from my stash.  I cut the tree using a file from the silhouette online store.

Take care and stay warm!

Service Project

Hello Friday and welcome to the weekend!  Today I am sharing my second LO for 2015, I am participating in a weekly FB challenge where I am hoping to complete at least 52 LOs this year.  This LO uses pictures taken from a service project that my husband's fraternity did last summer.  The sketch inspiration came from Tiare's From Desk to Done challenge.

The base of the LO is the only full sheet of paper, the remainng papers were scraps from my stash. The other embellishments have been in my stash for a while including the foam letters for the title from the $1 aisle at Target.  I cut the clipboard that has the journaling with the Fabulous Finds cricut cartridge, that is one of my favorite cricut cuts.

Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

Time4Fun

Today's project is one that I have been trying  to scrap for quite some time, I have so many LOs that I need to complete.  I didn't take any pictures at the event so I used pictures taken from a FB page and they are not the best.  When completing the LO I used paper from a Pink Paislee paper pad called Snow Village, I picked it during one of the daily deals at Michaels last month.  I added only a few embellishments because of the pattern paper, I cut the title from the Cuttin' Up cricut cartridge and I stamped the greek letters using the sorority stamp set from Pink Bow Ties.  First LO of 2015 complete using pictures from an event in 2013!

Hello Sunday

I have mixed feelings about my personal challenge coming to an end,  I know that my sister is smiling down and cheering that I have kept at it; if only she were here to see.  I'm okay just missing her so, she was my biggest cheerleader!  Today's LO is one that should have been completed some time ago.  For this two page LO I used paper from the DCVW Textures and Finishes stack, I like the look and feel of it so I didn't want to add too much outside of the pictures.  When I scrap I always want the pictures to tell the story so I keep the embellishments to a minimal.  I used my SLICE to cut the lettering and my cameo for the emblem.  Take care and I'll be back tomorrow to share the final project for this challenge!

Wednesday Wanderings

Hello and welcome to another Wednesday Wanderings post!  This week we have been experiencing relatively nice temps, with the pollen being the biggest reason you don't want to go outside!  I've been trying to get myself ready for the next two weekends of being on roadtrips.

I am planning to go to Cassie's weekend crop next week, while trying to sort through what I wanted  to take I came across several unfinished LOs that I thought I'd try to tackle this week.  Today I'm sharing one of those LOs, it is one of the pages that I was working on for my husband's fraternity album.  The LO uses some of the pictures taken when we went to Indiana for the fraternity's 100th year celebration.  This one is done without alot of fanfare, using paper and misc. items from my stash.  The pictures and their significance is what's most important.  I probably won't get anymore unfinished projects completed before I leave for the crop so I'll just pack them up to take with me!

Wishing you a wonderfully blessed day.

Tis the Season for Giving

As I wind down from the celebration of my birthday I am doing the happy dance because I finally finished my first LO for 2014.  This LO uses pictures of me and some of my sistah friends putting together gift bags for a service project last month; I shared about this project in earlier posts.  The sketch inspiration for this LO comes from  this month's pajama party hosted by Tiare over at iClassygirl.  I used my silhouette to cut the title, my cricut to cut the shopping bag, Christmas stickers that have been in my stash for some years and a wreath sicker that I recieved from my secret sistah over at SOC.  Wishing you and yours a great week.

National Card Making Day

Hello and Happy National Card Making Day, what are your plans for today? I don't have any formal plans just hoping I can get in some play time. Today I'm sharing a project that I just finished for delivery later today. My husband asked me to make forty thank you cards for one of his fraternity brothers. When he asked me he said 'I volunteered you for a job' I graciously accepted to keep the peace! I knew that the cards would be distributed to a bunch of men that would not have an appreciation for a handmade card so I kept it simple; I even ran the cards through the printer to print the inside message. A Darice embossing folder for the sentiment and my silhouette cameo to cut the greek letters for the closure and two packages of Recollections cards and envelopes. The hardest part was finding the time to put them together and figuring out the handwriting to address the envelopes. The task has been completed, packaged for delivery and my husband will probably earn some bragging rights with the guys! Wishing you a great day and fun weekend!

Fun Run

Today I'm sharing a LO from the One Mile Fun Run that DD completed a few weeks ago during the 5K where I was suppose to participate but I was needed as a volunteer! The "Get Fit" 5K was an event of the Richmond Kappa Endowment Foundation.   Everything used was from my stash, the sunglasses and ipod were used as embellishments since thats what she was carrying in her hands as she ran!

Its Wednesday, a nice Fall day!  I am getting excited about my upcoming weekend crop retreat even though I haven't started packing because I still have alot to do.  Friday, I am hosting the Friday Night Chat (FNC) over on Scraps of Color (SOC).  I've been busy preparing my challenge projects as I can't operate under time contraints!  My laptop is still down so I'm not functioning at 100 percent!

Sunday of Hope

Today I'm sharing a LO that was inspired by a sketch posted on Colorful Creations during a recent anniversary sketch a day challenge. Although I wasn't able to complete the challenge I like this particular sketch idea. The picture that I used was taken March 2011, I don't scrap in chronological order so you'll see a mix of old and current pictures. It is a picture of some of my husband's fraternity brothers after a Sunday of Hope celebration at a local church supporting St. Jude Children's Hospital. My husband wasn't able to attend as he was still recuperating. I used several different cricut cartridges for the title, vine and hexagons. Thanks for stopping by and have a good weekend.

Heritage Celebration

The month of February is winding down and I hadn't posted anything in relation to the celebration of our heritage. Today I'm sharing a LO using pictures taken at a Black History Celebration that we attended a few weeks ago. The service was at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Washinton, DC. The guest speaker was Ambassador Edward Perkins, Retired. He was appointed by President Reagan as Ambassador to South Africa, he is also a member of the same fraternity as my husband. After the service there was a reception, question and answer period and book signing.

This sketch for this LO is also for the Anytime Anywhere Scrapbooking Experience challenge hosted by Tiare over at iClassygirl.com. This is the sketch for week #4 of this year.

Kappa Kamp

Today I'm sharing a LO that I completed for the Anytime, Anywhere Scrapbooking Experience hosted by Tiare over at iClassygirl.com. This is the third LO for 2012, I'm still working on last week's LO which I hope to complete by the end of the week. The pictures used in the LO were taken last summer while we were in Indiana attending the Kappa Alpha Psi 100th year celebration. DD went to a basketball camp hosted by former NBA player Johnny Newman. I used misc. paper, the basketball and wall decor and more cartridges.

Out on the Town

Today I'm sharing my latest LO in the Anytime Anywhere Scrapbooking Experience series that is being hosted by Tiare over at iclassygirl.com. This is LO#8 in the series, I used the picture that DH and I took at a Diamonds and Pearls event. In an earlier post I shared a LO using a picture of me and two of my friends that we invited to go with us this year. I used some handmade paper that I have been trying to use up for quite sometime and for the title I used some naked chipboard letters (thickers).

Congratulations Kappa Alpha Psi

Our week in Indiana is winding down and Indianapolis has been a great host city. Banners adorn sign/light post, street signs temporarily renamed, red carpet celebrations and great hospitality.

Bloomington

On Thursday we went to Indiana University in Bloomington. Kappa Alpha Psi was founded at IU in 1911 so one of the themes of the grand chapter meeting was "Come Home to Kappa." They are the only historically Black fraternity founded at a perdoominately white school. I tell you it has been a beautiful sight to see and I'm not sure the campus or Bloomington was ready for our visit. I don't think they expected such an outpouring, there are over 35,000 people in attendence this week and I think most of them have gone or will be going to IU. I'm sharing a picture that I took a few miles before we arrived on campus. I have taken so many pictures I will probably make an album for DH and FIL!
