Out on the Town

Today I'm sharing my latest LO in the Anytime Anywhere Scrapbooking Experience series that is being hosted by Tiare over at iclassygirl.com. This is LO#8 in the series, I used the picture that DH and I took at a Diamonds and Pearls event. In an earlier post I shared a LO using a picture of me and two of my friends that we invited to go with us this year. I used some handmade paper that I have been trying to use up for quite sometime and for the title I used some naked chipboard letters (thickers).

Sight Seeing

Today I'm sharing another LO from the Anytime, Anywhere Scrapbooking Experience being hosted on Scraps of Color. The pictures used in the LO were taken in August when we went to Bowie, Maryland; we toured the town's museums and mansions on Sunday. It was quite an educational experience and DD was able to earn a badge for the girl scouts.

Glitter Ornaments

I finally did it, I've had these ornaments for over two years ssying I was going to do something with them! I decided I wanted to give them to my daughter's teachers for Christmas so I finally took it on last night. These are small so I'm planning to make a Michaels or Hobby Lobby run to see if I can pick up some larger ones. I have to finish this project tonight since tomorrow is the last day before winteer break starts! I think they came out just fine, all I need to do now is to get up enough confidence to try apply some vinyl.

Fabulous

Today I'm sharing a LO that I completed for the ANYtime, ANYwhere Scrapbook Experience that I'm partiicpating in over at Scraps of Color. This is week 5 LO which took me a while to complete just because of life situations. The pictures used in the LO is of me and two of my friends at a recent function hosted by DH's fraternity and the Deltas. It was a fun night of food, fellowship and fun; I spent most of the night at the blackjack table.

Color Me Chocolate

Today I'm sharing a card that I made to send to someone very special. I'm also submitting the card as part of December's "Color Me Chocolate" challenge over at
Mema's Crafts. This is my first time participating in their monthly challenges, if you're looking for some inspiration, you may want to check out her challenges and tutorials. For this challenge your project had to use chocolate/brown, white and either pink, teal or red. I used the cricut wild card cartridge for this card and it is one of the cards shown in the Cricut Cardmaking book.

Christmas Tag

Over at Scraps of Color last week's theme for the Holiday bloggers was "Tag, You're It." We were suppose to create and post a holiday tag, I created this simple tag and will be using it on one of my holiday gifts! I cut the sentiment from the simply charmed cricut cartridge and the little ornament was from a sticker pack and the paper from an old DCVW holiday stack (trying to use my scrap stash) I'm not sure how many more I'll do because I need to get my Christmas cards done along with some other projects.

Girls Rock

Today I'm sharing a LO of DD at a recent aikido training seminar. She's pictured here with Sensi Stephanie Yap 6th dan, who has her own dogo in South Florida. The seminar was hosted by Aikido of Virginia Beach.

Holiday Crafty "To Do" List

Today as part of Scraps of Color Holiday Bloggers I'm sharing my "to do" list. I really need to get motivated to get this done or something might not get done. I only have five items but theyall can be quite time consuming. This is a busy time of year because we have so many activities to attend. While everyone else was probably having fun enjoying all the shopping deals I was stressing trying to find a dress for next week's Diamonds and Pearls event; I just need to lose weight! I'll try to share the completed projects as long as I'm not too stressed after finishing them!

No Limits

Today I'm sharing my first LO of the Anytime Anywhere Scrapbooking Experience being hosted on Scraps of Color. I am now a believer that pagekits are the key to more organized and efficient scrapping. Now I've just got to work on getting some together, I just have a hard time since I usually scrap around my pictures. This LO is of DD and DH practicing her tennis skills. I chose this title as a testament for my daughter to demonstrate the resilence of her father. I wanted to demonstrate to to her that despite life's limits you can still excel to new heights. My DH is no longer able to run but he still wants to be a part of all that she does. They just don't go to the courts without me!

Third Grade

Today I'm sharing a LO that I created for a Weekend LO Challenge over at Scraps of Color. I really liked this sketch, I used paper and embellishments from a Cloud 9 page kit that I picked up at Marshalls on clearance over a year ago. The title was cut from the font on the birthday cake cricut cartridge.

Happy Fall

The leaves are turning, temperatures dropping and the holiday season is upon us. Yesterday was Halloween, next week is Veterans Day and then Thanksgiving and the list goes on! Today I'm sharing one of the cards that I made using the scraps from the page kit that I used for the Fall Fun LO. It is a simple Happy Fall card that I'm planning to send to someone this week!

Fall Fun

Over at Scraps of Color I have been participating in a "Use Your Stash" challenge. Its a three part/week step where you make page kits, create a LO using your page kit and the last part/step is to use your scraps. The last part is still a work in progress for me. I have way too many scraps and I just can't seem to get rid of them. So today I'm sharing the first LO using the page kit I made from my scrap stash. I decided to use a fall theme since I knew thats something I'd use fairly soon. The pictures in the LO of DD selecting her pumpkin and dressing it once she got home. She calls it her princess prirate pumpkin!

Retreat Projects

Today I'm sharing two of the 'make and take' projects that we completed at the retreat earlier this month. The mini door hanger was made using CTMH products including the new cricut cartridge. This was my first time using a quilling tool for the formation of the flowers, tweezers will work just fine too! The other project was glass etching, this was the second time I tried etching. I like the end result better this time. Thanks to Sharon and Lisa for providing the supplies and leading the demos!

Its Columbus Day but I'm at work, I'm thankful for my job though! I see that I now have 100 blog followers so I'll post my blog candy tomorrow as I went to a retreat over the weekend so I need to get back into the swing of things. Today I'm sharing one of the projects that I worked on while I was at the retreat. It is a chipboard mini of my DD's 10th birthday party. I like the final project and she did too, I guess thats all that matters. I'll share more retreat projects later this week too.

White Linen

Today I'm sharing a LO where I used one of my latest little tools, the SEWeasy. The verdict is still out; I'm not sure whether I like it or not but I guess since I can't seem to get my sewing machine going this is it. The pictures in the LO were taken in July 2010 at an All White fundraising event that DH and I attended. The photographer wasn't very good so the pictures aren't that good. I completed this LO for an All Stitched Up challenge over at Scraps of Color

Recital Practice

Today I'm sharing a LO of DD practicing for her upcoming piano recital. This is the first LO that I've done of her practicing the piano even though I've taken other pictures. I'm thinking about doing a mini of her using the pictures and pictures I have of her playing the clarinet. This LO started out originally for a sketch challenge and a monthly challenge; needless to say it just didn't work out. I'm beginning to think that I'll never be able to step out of the box with my scrappin' venture. The LO inspiration is from the The Sketch Inspiration site.

Today I'm sharing another LO that will be included in my DH's accident album. The accident was last December and I still have a ways to go before I finish the album. I do hope to have it finished before December.

First Day of School

Today I'm sharing the LO that I completed for my DD's first day of school last week. As stated before I only took the one picture of her standing outside her classroom. I can't believe she's in the 5th grade, she's growing up way too fast! This was the first year I made a card for her and put it in her lunchbox and she was quite surprised so I used it on the LO too.

Today I'm sharing a LO of my children using some pictures taken in 2010. My son was visiting and decided to have these pictures taken as a Mother's Day gift to me.

Happy Monday! The start of another work week (thankful to have a job), second week of school and more birthday celebrations. Yesterday was my father'in-law's b-day and tomorrow is my nephew's birthday followed by another nephew's birthday next Monday.

Happy Friday!

Wow its Friday, the weather has been a bit gloomy all week so not too much creating! I do have several LOs that I want to share but I still need to take pictures. So today I'll just share a picture of DD on her first day of school, this is the only picture that I took and its her standing outside her classroom. So that means I'll have to be a little more creative when its time to scrap it! It was raining on Tuesday, we were running late and I couldn't put my hands on my camera so I had to use my phone!

Happy Birthday

Today in honor of my DH's birthday I'm sharing one of the LOs that will be included in his accident recovery album. We are grateful for the progress made in this journey and thankful for the milestones. Although he'll never be 100% we still rejoice in all blessings. I'm also sharing one side of the altered CD that DD gave him.

Family Reunion

Hello and Happy Monday. I hope that everyone is well and survived hurricane "Irene" with little or no damage. Prayers that power will be restored soon!

I've been trying to update my blog for sometime now but life has just been taking a toll on me! Today I'm sharing one final two page LO from our reunion in June, I had alot of pictures but no one thought to take a group picture (maybe next time) so I just scrapped some random pictures. I'll probably just put the rest of the pictures in a photo album.

Odom Siblings

Happy Friday! Today I'm sharing a LO using pictures of my mom and her siblings. I guess I'm going for family themed LOs this month. Both of my parents have rather large families, my mother's parents had 12 children; six boys and six girls. All of my mother's siblings were in attendance with the exception of one sister that was unable to make it and one brother thats deceased. Odom is my mother's maiden name!

Sugar & Spice

Happy Friday! Today I'm sharing a LO of my DD and my youngest sister. I used a picture that was taken earlier this summer at a family gathering. I used a LO challenge sketch posted this week over at Platinum Scraps. The sketch comes from www.sketchythursdays.blogspot.com. If you need some inspiration for LOs and or cards you should visit their blogs. I used the cricut cartridge Once Upon a Princess for the title and paper from the All Dressed Up paper pack I won recently.

Field Day

Happy Sunday, it was much cooler today and I was happier. I managed to get through the day without taking sinus medicine too. I'm scrap happy as I am sharing one of the final LOs for DD's 4th grade school album. I'm happy to report that I'm done with the album before she starts 5th grade! This is a LO using pictures of their field day; DD and her friends are wearing t-shirts that I made for them.

Cousins

Today I'm sharing a LO that I have mixed feelings about, I struggled with choosing paper so I just decided to keep it even simplier than normal! It is a LO of our daughter with her cousins, she is the only princess on both sides of our family. I'm not fond of the picture either, it was taken in a hurry a few weeks ago after an evening church service. Maybe I should have tried to doctor it up or something, but since I didn't it is what it is!

Thursday, July 28, 2011

Dad's Day

This is a LO using a picture taken of DD and DH on Father's Day. We were just about to leave my in-laws after dinner and I realized I hadn't taken any pictures all day. She had given him his gift earlier that day while he was still in bed. We are thankful for his recovery progress, he was only using a cane when this picture was taken.

Tag Swap

Happy Monday! Are you staying cool? This blazing heat is taking a toll on everything; I don't have the energy to move. I hope you're staying cool and well hydrated. Today I am sharing the tags that I received from a summer themed tag swap that was held over at Scraps of Color. I created the 4th of July tag.

I have been the lucky winner of some blog candy recently. I'm always cruising blogs and leaving comments and was pleasantly surprised when I finally won!

Thanks to Carole over at Paper Arts for the cute embroideried tote.

I'd also like to thank the design team over at Platinum Scraps for the paper pack, markers and set of spellbinders nestabilities.

Congratulations Kappa Alpha Psi

Our week in Indiana is winding down and Indianapolis has been a great host city. Banners adorn sign/light post, street signs temporarily renamed, red carpet celebrations and great hospitality.

Bloomington

On Thursday we went to Indiana University in Bloomington. Kappa Alpha Psi was founded at IU in 1911 so one of the themes of the grand chapter meeting was "Come Home to Kappa." They are the only historically Black fraternity founded at a perdoominately white school. I tell you it has been a beautiful sight to see and I'm not sure the campus or Bloomington was ready for our visit. I don't think they expected such an outpouring, there are over 35,000 people in attendence this week and I think most of them have gone or will be going to IU. I'm sharing a picture that I took a few miles before we arrived on campus. I have taken so many pictures I will probably make an album for DH and FIL!

Anniversary

Today DH and I are celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary. We are on vacation in Indianapolis attending his fraternity's 100th year celebration. We have lots of fun events scheduled already so we'll probably have to postpone our anniversary celebration until we get back home! So today I'm sharing a picture of us yesterday while we watched the Indiana Indians lose to the Toledo Mud Hens. We walked in the Kappas parade to Victory stadium enjoyed a catered cookout, the game and fireworks!

Status Check

I've been so busy that I haven't had time to blog or scrap. I'm actually entering this entry in the lobby of an Hampton Inn in Huntington, West Virginia. I'm waiting for DH to get himself together so that we can get back on the road to Indianapolis. He is doing better but still not 100 percent (he'll never get back to where he was). The car is overpacked as usual and we'll probably have to send our clothes out to be pressed. I didn't pack any scrappin' stuff but I will snap some pictures and share them while we're vacationing in Indiana. Wishing you and yours a safe, healthy and happy 4th of July. We will be going to a parade and baseball game tomorrow so stay tuned!

Freezer T-Shirts

I've been busy making T-shirts for DD and her friends, I didn't have enough vinyl so I had to use the freezer paper method. I think they turned out pretty good for a first try! I made t-shirts for DD's twin day(front and back pictured above) and field day, I used the flamingo from Life's a Beach since their school mascot is the flamingo.

Monticello

This is another LO for my daughter's 4th grade album, I can't believe the school is almost over and I'm almost done with the album. I have just a few more LOs and its complete! I have yet to finish her PreK and Kindergarten album, I have done grades 1-3 though.
